Stevie Ray Vaughan
October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990
Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the greatest electric blues/rock guitarist. He began his recording career in 1983 and after 7 short years had won 3 Grammy Awards and succeeded in conquering his greatest foe - substance abuse. SRV could play anything and was recognized by the greats of the guitar world. He could play behind his head, behind his back, thru his legs and mastered the wah-wah pedal. On August 27th of 1990 after performing a concert with Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Jeff Beck, he boarded a helicopter (originally intended for Eric Clapton) and shortly after take-off due to gross pilot error crashed into the side of a mountain - dead at 35.

The musician who most thoroughly exemplifies the saying that the blues had a baby called rock ‘n’ roll is Stevie Ray Vaughan.
