Janis Joplin
January 19, 1943 - October 4, 1970
A Rare Little Piece Of Her Heart
Original Hand-Written, Four
Page Letter From Janis Joplin -
Dated September 30, 1965 (
two
years before her breakthrough
performance at the Monterey
Pop Festival
)  Janis writes just
as she sang - from the
genuineness of her heart.  The
writing style is vivid &
articulate in that her distinctive
voice can be heard as she
speaks to the love of her life,
Peter de Blanc - revealing her
dreams of marriage and the
indecision of how to spend her
$258 - should she buy a guitar
or fill her hope chest for the
upcoming marriage.

Displayed with the letter is one
of her most famous pictures -
"Janis & Her Porsche" with her
arms extended,  capturing the
exuberance of her energy -
while sitting on top of her
custom painted psychedelic
1965 Porsche Cabriolet Super C
(which she loved driving and is
now parked in the Rock N Roll
Hall of Fame) truly is a
reflection of the time

The background matting is created to match a piece of the pattern on the
Porsche and also includes the floating butterfly from the hood - the
butterflies encircle the Identification & Title of  the Piece as: "Handwritten
letter by Janis Joplin to her boyfriend hoping to get married" - a short "Bio"
follows with overlapping B & W photos that enhance the personality behind
the letter.

The Letter consists of four 6" x 8" stationary paper - in mint condition.  Each
page is numbered - the letter is complete, in its entirety.  All pages of the
letter are protected by corner inserts, leaving the four pages untouched for
mounting and framing purposes

The Envelope is signed "Miss Janis Joplin" and addressed from her home in
Port Arthur, Texas - The return address is clearly visible as it appears the
envelope was opened carefully at the top, leaving all the handwriting intact.

The Acrylic Black Framed Display Measures:  35" x 35" - Ready For Hanging

Janis didn't have a chance to leave us many  years of music, experiences,
reminders or memorabilia of her incredible talent.   But she did leave us a
little piece of her heart and a face, voice and style that made "Miss Janis
Joplin" the undisputed "Queen Of Rock N Roll!"

love affair!  It
was the first time

"Love, Janis"
Janis Lyn Joplin was born January 19, 1943 and died October 4, 1970. In between she led a triumphant and
tumultuous life blessed by extraordinary  talent for bringing powerful emotion to heart-stomping
rock-and-roll singing. Born and raised in Port Arthur, she discovered an inborn talent to belt the blues,
playing coffee houses and hootenannies in the small towns of Texas. She later ventured to the beatnik
haunts of Venice, North Beach and the Village in New York. Jumping into the on-the-edge lifestyle cultivated
by the era, Janis thrilled at her creativity, but almost lost herself in experiments with drugs and alcohol.

Music still called her to her in spite of its dangerous association with drugs - and then - old Austin friend,
Chet Helms, who had moved to San Francisco, called to offer her a singing audition with a relatively obscure
group called "Big Brother and the Holding Company."
