Country Joe and the Fish was a rock/folk music band known for
musical protests against the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1970.

The lead singer was "Country" Joe McDonald. The lead guitarist
was Barry "The Fish" Melton. Co-founders McDonald and Melton
added musicians as needed over the life of the band.
One figure straddles the two polar events of the '60s -- Woodstock and the Vietnam War -- and that's
Country Joe McDonald.  In fact, McDonald, was not only an anti-war protester during the '60s, but also a
Vietnam-era Navy veteran.  After 31 albums and more than a quarter century in the public eye as a
folksinger, Country Joe McDonald qualifies as one of the best-known names from '60s rock still performing.
McDonald remains a thriving, working musician who travels the world and continues to sell records.
